Bloomberg reports, that according to insiders from Amazon, they testing a new display ad offering that threatens multibillion-dollar proceeds at Google and other companies.
Curently, advertisers already can buy other types of ads on Amazon, but market of web-advertising is a very tasty piece. According to EMarketer Inc. web and mobile advertising in 2021 will account for half of all ad budget including TV, radio and newspapers and billboards combined. In 2017 Amazon ad business generated $1.7 billion and starting own advertising platform in future will allow to catch up with Google with their $95 billions.
Analysts note the advantage of selling on Amazon before the usual online sales: people often come to Amazon in order to buy, and not just look at products like in Google or Facebook.
